Dara Hamilton, Ph.D
Dara Hamilton earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Howard University in 2002. She has lived in a variety of environments, including Washington, DC, Topeka, KS, Cincinnati, OH, and St. Croix, VI, and has worked in a number of capacities. In addition to being a licensed Clinical Psychologist, she is a locally certified School Psychologist who works full time for the Department of Education. Dr. Hamilton teaches part time in the graduate and undergraduate psychology programs of the University of the Virgin Islands and is in her second term as the President of the Association of Virgin Islands Psychologists. As a Cigna EAP Speaker, Dr. Hamilton has presented across a variety of topics to a number of diverse audiences. She approaches psychotherapy from an existential perspective, understanding that life is a process and enjoys assisting others as they develop greater self-awareness and exercise choice to create the happiness and lives they desire. She relies on an integrated set of techniques, including dynamic, interpersonal and cognitive behavioral, to facilitate this process. Dr. Hamilton takes pleasure in participating in opportunities that benefit the community, and in her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her son and attending cultural events.
